SYMPHONY CONCERT
17 Mar 2010 at 19:00 Kotka Concert House 18 Mar 2010 at 19:00 Kouvola City Hall
Program
W. A. Mozart: Symphony No. 22
J. Haydn: Cello Concerto in D major
G. Kancheli: “Silent Prayer” for violin, cello and orchestra
L. van Beethoven: German Dances
Once again we are to be treated to a lively musical performance guaranteed not to leave anyone cold. Our guest soloist with conductor Andres Mustonen is Swiss star cellist Patrick Demenga, who clearly enjoys playing the elegantly beautiful, virtuosic Cello Concerto in D major by Joseph Haydn exploiting the instrument’s entire expressive range. Coupled with this are some true Classical gems: Mozart’s Symphony No. 22 and Beethoven’s German Dances. These will be offset by the more recent, delicately touching Silent Prayer by Georgian composer Giya Kancheli with Mustonen and Demenga as the soloists.
